We’re too stupid for Toyota

I’m sure a lot of people would be upset about this article: Toyota deciding to open new plants in Canada, because americans are stupid. The truth is, the US is so concerned about keeping and creating oppressive laws on the books to protect it’s religious protected ignorance that we’re slowly becoming a nation of people dependant on the very government that once let us to independence. Disgusting, really.

“The level of the workforce in general is so high that the training program you need for people, even for people who have not worked in a Toyota plant before, is minimal compared to what you have to go through in the southeastern United States…”

That’s us, folks.

He said Nissan and Honda have encountered difficulties getting new plants up to full production in recent years in Mississippi and Alabama due to an untrained – and often illiterate – workforce. In Alabama, trainers had to use “pictorials” to teach some illiterate workers how to use high-tech plant equipment.

Didn’t MS schools beat ours, the last time around?

Beetle Update

Well, it’s Saturday, and we were supposed to make the trade yesterday and I still haven’t heard from the beetle guy. It wouldn’t bother me so much if he would CALL or write or somehow let me know what’s going on. He e-mailed me late Wednesday saying his dad is mad at him for trading the bug for a Honda, that he took the car in to be painted (after we decided not to do that) and that maybe he’ll see me this weekend. I haven’t heard from him since.

Am I asking too much when I ask for an update? This is the 4th time we’ve devided on a date, and the forth time he’s gotten all vague the day before and left me wondering if it was going to happen – only to cancel at the last minute. I was so frustrated and anoyed when I called and left a message this afternoon I ended up just hanging up on the machine. uhg.

Beetlemania

Gina has infected the office with pink eye. I seem to recall her mentioning to me on the phone yeterday that she was sitting at my computer. With pink eye.

Gina, if I catch p.e., I’m going to kiiiill you. (twirls evil mustache)

Now, back to the topic at hand. I posted an ad on TheSamba.com about trading my Honda CRX for a VW Type 1 (AKA “the bug”)

Someone responded after like, 3 hours, talked to me via AIM all night about his bug he’d like to trade, then… nothing. That was Saturday night. He was supposed to send me pictures of the bug in question, but now he doesn’t even reply to my AIM messages or the e-mail I sent him sunday night asking if he got the pictures.

Maybe I should add “No games” to the ad, like it was some sort of gay personals. “Vrstl GWM ISO VW Type 1. Will trade 4 ’91 Honda CRX. Prblms w/Pass side Win, GlvBx & BrtLt. No games, str8s, femmes, or druggies.”

Scooter News

Finally. My host‘s SQL database has been screwed since Friday afternoon, so I haven’t been able to post anything since then, not that that much has been going on. This weekend is my 29th birthday. One more year to go until I’m the big 3-0. Kinda freaky when I think how fast life has gone by sometimes.

I really really want a scooter. I’m thinking about either the Stella or the Yamaha Vino Classic. My only problem with the Yamaha is I don’t know if it’ll handle my 200#+ ass. The max load is 165#, but I’ve seen reports of people as heavy as 300# riding them with no problems. Members in this Yamaha Vino Club recomended that I upgrade the back tires for the higher weight. The Stella is bitchin though, but at $2,699 I’ll have a hard time financing it with my god awful credit. I think this is what they meant when they said “You’ll regret it when you can’t finance anything.” Now I do. I need to get these two credit cards off my record. I think they’re like, $800 total. I’m thinking about asking Alberto or my mom to lend me the money to pay the collection agencies, then I can pay them back with direct deposit so I wont screw that up as well.

Gina is trying to talk me out of the whole scooter thing. She says it’s a mistake and that I’ll regret it the first time it rains.

It’s Been A While

My, how time flies. It’s been a while since I posted. I’m actually a year older… the big 2-8. hehe I wish I had tons to write about, but it’s been pretty slow in the life of Vincent. I had my birthday party a week early at Celebration Statio where I played hyper-violent video games with Marshall and Jason. I finally saw, for the first time, Dance USA or whatever that silly video game was. IF you’ve never seen it – run, don’t walk to your nearest video arcade and check it out. It’s like video line dancing for two. I was curious why 99% of the 20 people that were crowded around the game were asian. In between games it looked like Tiananmen Square as people scrambled to put their quarters on the machine.

Last weekend, I spent my birthday moving furniture and computers around Dan’s office and developing a nasty case of the shakes from a couple of glasses of banquet coffee. BTW, If there’s anything I’ve learned from my life and my mother, it’s that no matter how many times someone tells you they “don’t even like birthdays” they always like to hear those two little words.

The good news is… I’m going to Chicago tomorrow night. My brother, my nephew and I are driving up there to see my mom. I’ll be a big geek and try to post a “hello from Chicago” post or two. :)

Dan is hosting a VIP party for anyone who shows up (up to 20 people) at 360 tomorrow night (Friday) at 9:30. 2 free drinks for just showing up. I advise you to make it out there and say “Whazup!”

Yes… I am looking for someone to trade cars with. I have a 1991 Honda CRX in fair-good condition (CV Joints are going, no A/C, short in pass. side bright light,) and I am looking for a 60s/70s VW beetle.

Anyone?
