No news is good news

I’m hearing from more and more people, so I’m feeling much better. Although, it’s so fucking bizarre to be so spread out like this. It’s starting to hit me more and more… That I wont be able to see my friends and family for a long while. I think that’s my biggest loss in this situation.

I wish I could have packed them.

I’m so glad you are all safe.

Brian and I were just talking today about what we’re going to do after all this. The biggest obstacle of moving is.. well, moving. Opportunity sometimes knocks when you have nothing left to lose.

The bicycle forum I’ve been on is trying to raise parts to build a bicycle to send me! How incredibly cool is that? I’m speechless. I don’t feel worthy, but I miss my bike so much. I want to take them up on it, but I feel almost greedy. There’s so many more people that are in worse shape, but at the same time… ya know? I dunno. I’ll see how it goes. I’m going to a flea market here in town to see if they have something. I don’t want to take the bike if I can find one here… but from what I’ve seen, I don’t think cycling is all that popular here. :(

I’ve promised them that I would pay the shipping costs when I can get to my checks, that will be waiting for me, possibly in Monroe, LA.

7 hour drive each way? Uhg.

For whom it may concern

I was working on a medical program at work today, and while proofreading spotted the following passage:

INTRACTABLE PRIAPISM ASSOCIATED WITH HERBAL STIMULANTS. Tuckler VE, Barton C, Litner J, Matinez J, Section of Emergency Medicine, Medical Center of Louisiana, New Orleans, Louisiana.

Background: A wide variety of herbal supplements are available to the public over-the-counter without any restrictions and are often advertised as a safe ?natural? alternative to prescription medications.

Case Report: A 43 y/o white male without any past medical history presented to the ED complaining of approximately 60 hours of sustained erection. He had used an over the counter sexual enhancement drug with the trade name ?All Night Long? which contain 16 ingredients including niacin and horny goat weed standardized extract. He took no prescription medications but was taking niacin and ginseng supplements. After taking the supplements, he achieved an erection, but the erection failed to subside and became associated with significant pain. [.. painful sounding medical procedures on his wang removed …]

Conclusion: Herbal supplements are provided over the counter without restriction and are thought by many people to be without risk. However they can be associated with significant negative effects and morbidity.

James C. Arey – Running for Mayor of New Orleans in 2006

James C. AreyJames Arey, morning host on 89.9 WWNO has decided to run for Mayor in 2006. His campaign will be based on Support for the Arts. I wish I had more to say about him, really, but I don’t think I’ve ever heard him on the air. We usually catch Morning Edition as we’re getting dressed for work, and by the time Arey comes on I’m in the office without a radio. I would like to see him in office though, since he’s a five-time Jeopardy champion – how cool is that? That’s so much cooler than having Jerry Springer as your Senator.

I can’t wait to see James in a debate and be all “I’ll take Education Reformation for 600, Alex.”

Plus, his slogan is Arey. 2006. Fabulous. so you know he’s a queen with a sense of humor. :)

I joke, but I really like the idea of an intelligent man in office who cares about the arts, New Orleans and it’s musical and cultural heritage instead of yet another politician interested in just another notch in his belt on his way to higher office. He’s also kinda cute in that shirt and tie.

You can get a bumper sticker by sending a donation to:

Mine’s on it’s way.

Supreme Court Strikes Down Gay Sex Ban

WASHINGTON – The Supreme Court struck down a ban on gay sex Thursday, ruling that the law was an unconstitutional violation of privacy.

Of the 13 states with sodomy laws, four ? Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma and Missouri ? prohibit oral and anal sex between same-sex couples. The other nine ban consensual sodomy for everyone: Alabama, Florida, Idaho, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Utah and Virginia.

Thursday’s ruling apparently invalidates those laws as well.

We’re legal!

Now we just need the Powers That Be to acknowledge it. Massive rallying and celebrations going on at a queer bar near you.
