I never did claim my free Dr. Pepper when Guns and Roses’ Chinese Democracy launched this past November but I did recent;y succumb to temptation and get the the album itself. After 15 years of waiting, how could I not? I had to at least give it a listen so in case I ever run into Dan again I can say “Ha! It was a turd! Told ya so!”
It’s not quite a turd. There’s actually four or five really good songs on there. I could do without the epic, whiny Don’t Cry/November Rain type stuff though, I just want my rock to rock and I want my metal singers to sound like they have a pit bull on their balls when they scream.
I don’t want them harmonizing with keyboards though.[audio:gnrintro.mp3]
Shame on you, Axl.
Two new favorite songs:

I cannot believe I’ve never heard of Clutch until now. God I suck sometimes.
Holy crap, I can’t believe it’s almost Thanksgiving weekend. Not that I’m particularly excited about the holiday this year, seeing as I’m 1300 miles away from 98.4% of my friends and family. I’ll probably be spending thursday with Alberto and his girlfriend, gorging myself with turkey and counting the minutes down to Friday night’s They Might Be Giants show at 9:30 Club. DC is one of three show’s they’re playing their classic ’89 album “Flood” in it’s entirety for the first time in like some ungodly amount of time and I’m about to pee myself I’m so excited.
I used the post election buy-one-get-one free deal at tickets.com so I have a spare ticket. Just my luck, everyone I’ve asked is either busy, broke or out of town that night so I’ll probably end up going by myself. :(
If you’re interested and going to be in town that night, let me know. :)
Holy crap this was a good show. Yaz’s Upstairs at Eric’s has always been one of my favorite albums, although I admit I didn’t know about their second album
The crowd at 9:30 club was a weird mix of people… young gays, older couples, lesbians, straight women, you name it. There was an incredible energy throughout the club. It *felt* like a once in a lifetime show.
I called Marshall at the very end so he could hear, but it was literally right when Situation ended and all he probably heard was “Thank you, good night!” and a hundred people screaming. It was so loud that I couldn’t even hear if he answered or not. If he did pick up, it probably sounded like we were being slaughtered.
I *really* wish my phone took longer videos and that guy would have shut the hell up but MSH, these are for you…
