I dont suffer fools, and I don’t play dixie

Marshall, Carlos, Brandon, Alberto and I went to see Mike West play at the Kerry Pub the other night. Excellent show. I’m so glad everyone went. No matter how much I enjoy seeing a live show, it always makes me much happier to turn people on to something new. Alberto really enjoyed Sneaky Pete, Mike West’s sarcastic & mild mannered bass player and told Pete that they could be huge one day – “like a blue grass Tenacious D.” Sneaky Pete had no idea what ‘berto was talking about. :)

I don’t think Brandon knew what to make of it. I don’t see Brandon listening to Bluegrass very often, but I doubt there is anyone who could resist liking Mike and his music.

I took some pictures of the show, but I dropped the camera in the toilet and it must have shorted before I fished it out. (Yes I was drunk) I know it’s wrong on some level, but I’m going to bring it back to Wal-Mart and exchange it for a new one once the LCD screen clears up.

I bought the new CD, New South. Pick it up if you’re so inclined, it’s pretty good. My favorite of Mike’s CDs is still Redneck Riviera. Me O Mi is such a cool little song. Click below for some of Mike’s lyrics.

Photoblog

Ok, after some tinkering with the camera and reinstalling the drivers thirty times I got everything working as it should be. Be on the lookout for some crappy pictures on the right. I need to come up with a good template for my photoblog. I don’t really like the way it looks now. Hmmm. I hate CSS!

Updates: Cats & Camera

Well, we wound up naming the new kitty Lydia. I took me a while to warm up to it, but it?s starting to grow on me – mainly because I can now refer to them as Lyd & Play, which is so cute I can barely stand it.

Speaking of them, they?re getting along ok… Plato has this thing where he?ll bite you repeatedly until the spot he?s biting goes numb, then he?ll lick you there until it feels better again. I don?t think Lydia appreciates this.

I just realized I?m turning into one of those lame blogs where the person talks incessantly about their cats. Mental note: stop talking about cats.

I returned the camera last night and got a new one. The pictures still are coming out a little bizarre. They all have weird red or purple tints to them. Pretty, but not exactly what I want from it. I may end up taking this one back too. Hmmmm

Digital Camera

I just bought a digital camera from Wal-Mart. It was only like $48 so I figured I’d give it a shot.

I’d post some pictures if it worked, but unfortunately a little black piece inside the USB port broke off while I was trying to transfer some pictures, so the camera is already broken. It lasted a whole 15 minutes.

I guess I’ll have to truck on out to Wal Mart tomorrow and return it. Uhg.

The House is Alive With The Pitter Patter of Tiny Paws

Ok, so maybe not. The good news is we have a new kitty up in the hizhouse. She’s possibly even Plato’s long lost sister. If not from the same litter, she’s definately from the same ghetto cat that popped Plato out 6 months ago. (Kasey said something about catching ghetto kitty and having her fixed altered so this doesn’t happen again.)

She’s all black and, here’s the bad news, terribly scared. If you’re not actually holding her she’s hiding in some dark corner of the house somewhere. For instance, we found her trapped behind the stove when we got home from work today.

I think she’ll be ok once she realises she’s in a good home. Of course, Plato isn’t making it easy for her to realise that when he constantly bops her on the head as he walks by.

Bad Plato. :)

So we’re trying to figure out what to name her. We both like Lucy – but my friend Brian has a dog named Lucy, and that just seems kind of weird to do. I mean, if we both had pets named Lucy before we met it’d be all cutesy and stuff.. match made in heaven and all.. but to name her that after the fact just seems like I couldn’t think of anything better.

So we’re trying to think of names.

She’s all black and depressed so I’m trying to think of names she reminds me of. I’m leaning towards Wednesday. I think it’s kinda cool in a post-Addam’s Family Movie kinda way.

I’m checking out the Goth Cat Name Generator for some ideas: Nicotina, Vivesection, Decay, Willow, Lucy-Fur (ha!), AlliCat, Muffuletta (??), Entropy, Chaos, I Spit on Your Grave (huh?)

Yeah.. kinda stupid… I mean, Vivesection is a boy’s name!
