All We are Saying… is give puke a chance

I wish I could have been in the room during the brainstorming session that led to San Francisco protesters stage a ‘vomit in’.

Protester #1: Ok people. Big march on Thursday.. lets come up with some non-violent acts of civil disobedience.
Protester #2: Hmmm. We could link arms through piping and stand in the street, shut down most of the financial district and piss off thousands of people.
Protester #1: No, Stacey’s group is already doing that. Come on people. Think! Think!
Protester #3: How about a Pimple-Pop In?
Protester #1: That’s good! But no. It doesn’t express how outraged we are by this war.
Protester #4: How about a poop-in?
Protester #1: Now you’re talking! But does that really properly illustrate how disgusted we are by the actions of our government?
Protester #5: Umm.. Pap Smear In?
Random Protesters: Scab Pick In! Mucus In! Toe Cheese In! Eye Booger In!
Protester #1: No people! We need something that will let the world know this war makes us sick. Sick to our very stomachs! Sick to… Sick? Sick!
All Protesters: Ah Ha! Sick!

Pictures of Stairs

I was walking around the CBD during lunch with my camera, taking pictures of whatever scenes struck me as interesting. I’m sure most of them will be crap, but I hope there’s a few in there that will stand the test of time. Well, time in the sense of the 5 days or so until I develop them. I can hear myself now, “Damn, why the hell did I take a picture of a dumpster?”

Because it was interesting at the time. That’s the fun of it for me anyway.

I discovered that a person with a camera, taking pictures of an empty staircase FREAKS PEOPLE OUT. They just don’t know how to process that information.

Freaked Out Passer-By 1: What happened here?
Me: Nothing, I’m just taking a picture.
FOP-B1: Did someone fall or something?
Me: No, I just think it’s interesting looking.
Freaked Out Passer-By 2: Is it for an insurance company?
Me: Nope.
Freaked Out Passer-By 3: You’re just taking a picture of the stairs?
Me: Yeah, it’ll be like art or something.
FOP-B1: Can I walk through?
Me: Sure.
FOP-B1 and FOP-B2: (walking up the edge of the stairs like there was molten lava running down the center)
FOP-B1: We’re not in your way?
Me: It’s ok, I want you in the way.
FOP-B2: But wont that ruin the picture of the stairs.
Me: No, it’ll break up the repetitive horizontal lines of the stairs.
FOP-B1 and FOP-B3: ?!

At this point I was tired of dealing with them so I left. I’ll post them if they’re not crap.

Jews Gone Wild II

I haven’t posted anything about Jesus Christ Superstar yet…

I went to see it at the Saenger last Saturday and let’s just say it was a bit of a shock to see Sebastian Bach up there on stage as Jesus Christ – doing heavy metal screams to my favorite rock opera. I only wish he was more consistant. Bach didn’t seem like he knew exactly what his character should sing like. He’d be taking it easy one minute, over-the-top the next, jazz-handing it after that, and then… aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!! a full on fist pumping, big hair, spandex wearing metal-god scream. I guess it’s possible to have a Jesus cover all these musical genres – but Sabastian seemed all over the map to me. Trying a little too hard perhaps.

Carl Anderson (as Judas) was the only one that seemed comfortable in his part. I guess after 20+ years of playing Judas that comes with the territory. Anderson was just… wow. Amazing.

The showstopper was King Herod’s Song. Besides being the coolest song in the universe, it had vegas style flashing signs, show girls, bright lights, big steps and a top hat. Pretty cool.

Don’t get me wrong about Sabastian Bach… he did a great job. I guess it’s hard to objective when I’ve been listening to Ian Gillan sing it on the Cast Recording for the last 20 years. It was an amazing show alltogether. I’m sooooooo glad I went. Thanks for the ticket, Dan!

For Example

I’m responding to my previous article about trackbacks to show you all what it does. Notice how next to the trackback icon there’s a number in parenthesis? That’s the number of posts on (normally other) sites that have referenced that post, and have used track back to let me know. Kinda neat. I still haven’t configured it to display the way I’d like it to, but I’m going to get it all set up eventually.

If any noleftturners want me to set this up in your blog, let me know.
