Training at Laffites/CBR2

I had my first night of training as a barback at Lafitte’s last night. I think it went OK. The manager was very pleased with how I did, said I worked my ass off (which I did) and told me to go back in a couple of days and he’ll have some money for me.. which I desperate need these days. I think I’m going to be an observer one more day before I’m on my own. Fun times! With Decadence coming up I should make some good money.

Well, as any of you who read Mike’s Letter from my previous post knows, we were late paying rent this month… the landlord called Friday and told us to have his rent for him by today or we have to start moving out. Long story short: we ain’t got it. I guess we’ll see if he was bluffing or not. I’m not sure what Mike is going to do if the shop closes. Hell.. I’m not sure what I’m going to do.

Not entirely true. The interview went well I gather as they contacted all of my references by the time I made it from their office to the shop.

On a side note, Cute New York Guy was in town this weekend and we got to spend some last minute time together. He’s such a fun guy, I had a ball with him again. If we wern’t like, 10 states apart I’d totally date him. :) It was nice to see him after we met in March… I don’t think I’ve ever met someone from out of state that actually called me after they left.

If I get the new job, I think I’m going to tell them that I need a week off sometime in the next few months, even if it’s non-paid, so i can get out of this city and clear my head a bit. The stress of living here is starting to get to me. I’m breaking out, I’m riddled with anxiety, I have a hard time sleeping, I have a hard time waking up. It’ll help to have a routine again, that’s for sure.

Personal update

OK, a quick run down on what’s going with me. I’ve been interviewing with a few companies lately, trying to find a job that I can safely meld with helping my current boss out after/before hours. I interviewed with a particularly cool place today and it went very well. Not sure how much the hourly rate is, but it includes full benefits – 100% paid for, plus.. get this… there are three full sized fridges in the company kitchen… one is stocked FULL of Diet Coke. When I say full, I mean there was like.. 500 cans in the fridge and 20 or 30 palettes on the floor around it. The second was filled with regular Coke. The third is filled with luncheon meats.

Yes, it’s all for staff.

Holy shit, I know!

They also offer full, 100% paid for benefits – medical, vision and dental, 401K, paid time off after a year, sick leave and even let you work from home if it’s completely unavoidable.

Too good to be true, eh? My only concern is Mike. I simply will not leave him at this horrible time. I think the two jobs can play nicely. I just need to figure out how.
