Labor day weekend

After the last couple hectic weeks at work it was a relief to have a nice, long three day weekend to relax and blow off some steam.

Saturday night I went to an impromptu dance party at @DCDebbie’s that was later dubbed #holdenittogether, after a mutual twitter friend that a lot of us follow (@AliHolden) lost her beloved dog earlier in the week. @DistrictOfRyan, @MikeSica, and @Claddah76 met me at Target and we (quite literally) stuffed ourselves into @BdgrLaw’s little Audi A4 and somehow reached Silver Spring, MD without being pulled over for impersonating a clown car.

Share photos on twitter with TwitpicOnce at Debbies I ate, I drank, I watched @rlybrg flawlessly recreate the videos for both Single Ladies and Got Me Bodied. I took a picture with my index finger knuckle-deep in @DCDebbie’s cleavage (coming soon, I’m sure.) It was an interesting night, to say the least.

Also in attendance were @urbanphish, @cubby1978, @jesserker, @DCPrincessQ, and @dupontdan. I’m missing some people, but I don’t remember their twitter names.

Notice who wasn’t there? That’s right, the person who the party was named after. I’m not quite sure what to make of that.

Sunday I was supposed to wake up and go see Inglourious Basterds with Tadd. He wasn’t feeling well so I decided to go by myself. Unfortunately my body had other plans – I wound up falling asleep watching TV and not getting off the sofa until almost 7. I did a little work on my bike and then went out for a couple drinks with @DistrictOfAris, @DupontDan, @DrGateWood and @MikeSica. I stayed out a little too late, missed my bus, and wound up walking home. At 2am. Cue Elvis Presley: “In the ghetto.”

Today I just about finished building my bike up; it’s pretty much rideable now. Yes, it’s still kinda wobbly in some areas but since I don’t have the tools to fix the bottom bracket or the headset at the moment – I’ll head to the local bicycle co-op, The Bike House, this weekend and knock all that out. I’d still like to get some new cranks for it at some point, but the ones that are on there will work fine for now. I rode around the neighborhood for a bit but it started to rain so I cut it short and went back inside. It is surreal to be riding it after so long. It feels weird, riding a bike that’s actually the right size for me. :)

This evening I had dinner at City Lights of China with a really sweet guy I met a couple weekends ago. After dinner we got a drink at Larry’s on 18th street and chatted some more while people watching on the patio. It was a great night out and Larry’s is such a nice place to go to just chat without yelling over thumping music or suffering the usual drama that’s at most gay bars. Whenever I go there I always ask myself why I don’t go more often. I never have an answer.

On the way to my bus at 14th and P I stopped in at JRs to say hi to @MarkDC and @DCBrent. It was showtunes night so when Maybe This Time came on I couldn’t leave just yet. Then, as I was telling them goodbye, Harper Valley PTA came on and it just wouldn’t have been proper to exit until it was over.

An hour later I deftly made my escape when some crappy rendition of Man of La Mancha started. I mean really.

I’m totally not ready to go back to work. Can’t I just have one more day off? :)

Doing Some Housecleaning

I'm a zit, get it!Not really. I’m actually going through the folders on my web server, deleting a bunch of files from sites that i no longer operate and I’m coming across some weird, random images.

Like this one of me in high school with “The Haircut” and a mouth full of food.

This logo I made based on the Volkswagen logo except using my initials. I was trying to design a logo for something, but I don’t recall what. I’ve thought about getting it as a tattoo as well, but I’m a wuss. It’s a bicycle cog, but after the fact I realized it’s a little too close to the nazi era VW logo:

Finally, this banner I made for the old Pretty spiffy if I do say so myself.

Oh.. my… jesus.

Many thanks to Rachelle for finding this: Mormons Exposed.

mormons.jpgFor the first time ever, twelve of the hottest and hunkiest former Mormon Missionaries have dared to pose bare-chested in the first-ever Mormons Exposed calendar. The 2008 calendar, dubbed Men on a Mission, feature sexy men of faith who have all returned from serving as missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Usually seen riding their bicycles and preaching door to door, these steamy young men explode with sexuality on each calendar page.

Granted, they could be a little more my type, but some of them are well… cute enough. I wouldn’t kick any of them out of bed for eating crackers. Oddly enough, I don’t want to get this because, well who wants to see Mormons out of their ties?

hubba hubbaI think this one, Dustin, is my favorite, even without a tie.

New York, New York. Hell of a town.

OK. The fates are definitely telling me something, not that I believe in that shit. If I did, I’d be very certain New York is in my future… or maybe D.C since it’s in that general area. Earlier in the evening I was talking to this guy that messaged me from MySpace and, aside from being cute, smart, funny, a music nut, yadda yadda yadda. he’s living in Portland. Now, for months I’ve been tossing the idea of going to Portland around in my head since they have a bicycle college there, and that sounds really cool to me. But hey, it’s Portland… I don’t know anyone in Portland. I know people in D.C. and in New York though.. so that’s where my mind has been preparing myself to eventually move (in a year or so I I figger.) Scott (from MySpace) suddenly mentions he’s moved back to New York. dammit. New York keeps coming up in my life… Is it a sign?

Also.. When I was using my Mac to manage my mp3 collection, one of my favorite programs was IEatBrainz. It’s a program that analyzes your mp3 files, compares them to the MusicBrainz database and then figures out the proper track names, artist info, etc and renames all of your files. LOVE IT!! I never even though about going to the MusicBrainz website to see if there was a PC program as well. Well, there is. w00t!

Why is the room spinning?

Well, I just spoke with the nice lady that picked me up off the street. She has my bike.

She said the frame is bent from having the front wheel being forced into it. Not sure how bad or what she means. But.. it was my watanabe. :( :(

I also went to wash my hair in the tub today, didnt feel like going through all the aggrivation of showering… and when I bent over, the room started violently spinning.

I stood back up and and went in the living room and tried not to panic.. WTF was that?

I bent over again and the living room SHOOK, then started to spin severly.

After a 40 second google search this is all I can come up with:

“The most common cause of BPPV in people under age 50 is head injury .”

Anyone else get this? How long did it last? I’m calling my general practictioner as soon as my medical benefits kick in (some time this week!)

It sucks. I can’t even lay down now, or turn my head quickly. uhg.
