Cute Boys Rule

Spent some time with a new friend last night and this morning before he went home to New York this afternoon. Sucks to see him go, but I’m certainly glad we got to hang out. I showed him around the breeches and some of what happened to the city during the storm. Kind of a weird “date” but oh well.. it’s post Katrina… these are weird times. I got his e-mail and he said he may be coming back in April – not to mention I may be going to D.C./New York sometime in the near future. It’d be fun to have him show me around the Big Apple a bit.

Also I got some new toys with my FEMA money. Things I’ve been wanting forever, but never had the gumption or the resources to get. I got a 30gig iPod video (yes, I put porn on it.. what other video do I have on my hard drive? I’m thinking of ripping Grey Gardens to carry around with me. lol)

I also got a Holga medium format camera. I’ve been wanting one for a while and decided that $20 isn’t so much for something that can make me happy. I’m also getting a Nikon F3 and finally getting my dad’s Minolta SRT100 fixed.

I feel bitten by the photography bug again. Thank you Katrina.

I got the coolest pants.

I got the coolest pants from the,. *sigh* Gap.. they’re all two tone blue and stripey. Normally I’d think they “wern’t me” and all, being but I liked them too much to pass up. I also got a jacket that is pretty cool, but needs to be altered because the sleeves are too long. Getting a gift card is pretty cool. Free money! Free clothes!

I started not one, but two jobs today. I’m training to Board Op at WRNO again and I’m pretty sure I’m going to be working at French Quarter Computers starting sometime soon. I’ve been going in to FQC since I moved back and everyone there is super nice, so I’m looking forward to being part of the team and such. WRNO/Clear Channel however seems to be the same ol’ same ol. Radio is so much sterile than when I started just in ’94. I’m not like, an old timer or anything.. but the coolness factor, for me at least, has pretty much been sucked out. You just sit there and record call ins into the computer. Ah well. I like the people and it’s money – which is what I need at the moment.

I’m still trying to decide if I’m gonna go-on-take-the-money-and-run when I get my FEMA grant. $10,000 will go a long way towards building a life somewhere. Is New Orleans coming back? I’d like to think so, but it’s a gamble either way.

DC seems to be my best option. Alberto lives there and so does this guy I met last night that seemed pretty cool. Great eyes. Eyes like Ed Harris. Oooooooooo, how I love those deep blue eyes. :)

Anyhoo. Im at FCQ now, and this ain’t free. Better go.

Vincent: 1, Glasses: 0

I met Lloyd at the Pub today to say hello and whaddiyaknow… his neighbors found my glasses in the street. The remarkable thing is that they didn’t know they were mine, but tpicked up them up anyway. Lloyd happened to see them and asked who they belonged to and they said they didn’t know and found them outside their apartment. Yay, I can see again. Woohoo.

Plus, I got my bike back from Mitchell today. After flipping my bars upside down a-la bum-bars I took my first ride post-accident around the street. Didn’t hurt at all. I’m a little hesitant about riding too much though, especially at night. Maybe I’ll take her for a spin tomorrow and see how it goes. I really can’t wait to get back riding.

Since Mark got his FEMA grant, I can’t help but think of the things I’m going to by if when my grant goes through.

Definately the Metra Cocktail Table and S-2 VW End Table from Bike Furniture.

Then there’s a new bike. :) I’m looking at the Surly Steamroller, the Kogswell G, Gunnar Street Dog, the standby: Bianchi Pista or a few others like an A.N.T demo bike or the Raleigh Rush Hour, I’m also looking at going custom – maybe a Jonny but $1200 is a lot. But Ooooooo, it’d be cool.

Aslan is Turkish for Lion

The Killer previously blogged about e-mailed me today and made reference to reading my post here about him. Funny, I post things here not expecting anyone to actually read them. :) Cool though.

But that’s not what you want to read about, you want to read about how I’ve recently ordered a few things from on-line: First, The Ultimate Arm Sling. It’s actually quite nice and as comfortable as the website says. I highly recommend it if you are ever in the market for a nice arm sling and don’t want to wear the hideous denim one the hospital provides you with. I mean, c’mon.. denim? It wasn’t even a nice wash.

The other, the Badge-A-Minit, satisfies a lust that I’ve buried since I was a wee small child. I admit it, I’ve always wanted to make my own buttons and sell them for fun and profit ever since my one-legged grandfather sold them in front of Wal-Mart to raise money for Childrens Hospital***.

I plan on offering many of my t-shirt ideas in button form, for considerably less money. Like, $2 a piece or 3 for $5. I’ll even do custom stuff for a small fee. Why not?

Why you ask? They’re buttons damnit, that’s why.

***No, I’m not kidding.

Plan B Got 500+ Bikes In From Various Groups

The other day I helped unload some amazingly ungodly number of bicycles from the back of a packed 53 foot semi truck type thing. It was awesome, in the sense that it was something to be awed, not in the sense that Mr. Wizard made it possible for the girl with the bangs to stick her hand in an aquarium full of water and pick up a bolt without getting wet. That was awesome. Perhaps even Rad. Killer? Yeaah.

Anyway, Plan B is going to be selling all these bitchin’ bikes for like $15 or something, so if you’re looking for a cheap ride to beat the ever increasing gas prices, while at the same time having fun and doing something good for your body and the planet (yaddy yadda yadda, you know it’s true though) go on by… 511 Marigny. If you just want to throw some money their way they have a pay pal link on their site: Plan B: The New Orleans Bicycle Project

While your at it, check out these pictures.
